First Day of Being Colfax Community Church
Statement of Faith
We believe There is one true God, eternally existing in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19-20; John 15:26; 1 Corinthians 8:6)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth, his perfect example, his death on the cross, his resurrection and his promise to return. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13
We believe that acceptance of Jesus Christ is the only path to forgiveness for lost and sinful men and women. (John 3:16; John 5:24; Titus 3:3-70)
We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, inspired, trustworthy, true, and without error. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who lives within and guides Christians, so they are enabled to live godly lives. (John 14:15-26; John 16:5-16; Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe we are made right with God through his grace—which is undeserved forgiveness, kindness and mercy—and not by our works. (Romans 3:24; 1 Corinthians 1:4; 2 Thessalonians 1:12)
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to go and make disciples of all people and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19-20).
We believe that God designed marriage between one man and one woman as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9)
We believe that God created all human beings in His image, therefore, that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end; that we must honor the physical and spiritual needs of all people; following Christ’s example, we believe that every person should be treated with love, dignity, and respect. (Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10)
We believe that God is Love and He loves all people and expects us to do the same. It is His desire that we reach out to those who are poor, oppressed, widowed or orphaned, and to heal the brokenhearted. (1 John 4:16; Matthew 25:31-46; James 2:18))
We believe that children are from the Lord and must be absolutely protected within the church from any form of abuse. (Ps. 127:3-5; Matt. 18:6, 19:14; Mark 10:14)
